How AEO audits work

  1. Enter your product name and website.
  2. Quoted auto-generates 30 questions your customers might ask AI engines about products like yours, based on your website and your competitors.
  3. We run each question through 6 AI engines in parallel and analyze the answers: did they mention your product? Your competitors? What sentiment? What sources did they cite?

Claude isn't in the $10 audit. Anthropic blocks scraping, and the Anthropic API returns different answers than chat.claude.com. On the roadmap.

Real consumer UI data, not API approximations

Most AEO tools have a problem: they query AI engines through their public APIs (OpenAI API, Anthropic API, Google API), then sell you the results as "what ChatGPT says about your product".

Those APIs return different answers than what your customers actually see when they open chatgpt.com or perplexity.ai. Different system prompts, different model versions, different retrieval pipelines. When we ran the same prompts through OpenAI's API and through scraped ChatGPT.com, the brands surfaced by the API were almost entirely different from those on the live website.

Quoted scrapes the real consumer interfaces. When we say "ChatGPT mentioned your product", we mean someone typing your prompt into chatgpt.com would actually see that mention.

What is AEO?

AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) is the practice of making your brand visible in AI-generated answers from engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Grok, and Google AI Mode. Unlike traditional SEO, which optimizes for link rankings, AEO optimizes for being cited in synthesized answers.

How is AEO different from SEO?

SEO targets Google's link-based search results — if you rank #1, users see your link and click. AEO targets AI engines' synthesized answers — if you're cited, your brand appears in the answer; if not, the user never knows you exist for that query. There's no "scroll to position 20" in AI answers.

Which AI engines does Quoted audit?

Six: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Grok, Google AI Mode, and Google AI Overviews. Claude is not included in the $10 audit because Anthropic blocks scraping commercial tools, and we won't substitute API responses.

How do you collect data — API or real scraping?

Real consumer-UI scraping via Bright Data, not API approximations. When we tested side-by-side, the brands surfaced by the APIs were almost entirely different from what users see on chatgpt.com. We don't substitute one for the other.

Can I run audits weekly or monthly?

What about Claude?

Not in the $10 audit. Anthropic blocks scraping, and the Anthropic API returns different answers than chat.claude.com. On the roadmap.

Do you sell or share my data?

No. Audit data is yours. We show featured audits on the homepage only for brands we've pre-arranged with (currently Linear as a demo). Your audit is private by default.

Can I delete my audit?

Yes. Email us with your audit slug or account email and we delete the report plus all associated generations within 48h. Stripe payment records are retained per US tax requirements.

Can I run audits for clients?

Yes. $10 per brand, no seat fees. You can run audits for any domain — useful for client research or pre-sales discovery.

What if my audit shows I'm already cited well?

Then you have your AEO baseline documented. Re-run quarterly to catch drift — AI engines update their training data and retrieval regularly, and visibility that holds today can disappear next model cycle.
